It is very apparent that we do not live in a just world, and as such life is not easy for the vulnerable and voiceless members of society, due to gross socio-economic injustices that hinder a life of dignity and freedom. The evangelical fellowship has made it part of its mandate to speak on behalf of the oppressed in society.

The word of God says;

“How long will you defend the unjust and show partiality to the wicked? Defend the cause of the weak and the fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” Psalm 82:2-4 (NIV)

It is through programs such as Publish What You Pay (PWYP), that EFZ calls for increased transparency and accountability in the extractive industries. We are mobilized by principles of dignity, human rights and sustainable human development that the Church is committed to. EFZ uses the PWYP program to ensure the government is kept accountable for their management of natural resources, such as Forestry and extractive resources.
